Treyarch and Activision weren't joking when they said Call of Duty: Black Ops 2's story would be inspired by today's headlines. The newly released trailer is filled with some not-so-subtle hints suggesting the current road America is on could lead to a powerful uprising of a not-so-nice guy.
Raul Menendez looks to be the villain in the next Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 game, and the American population seems to be responsible for his uprising in power.
"Idolized as the Messiah of the 99%" (sound familiar?), Raul Menendez, under the name Cordis Die, uses the popular, free video service YouTube to help gain traction and over 55 million followers. Thanks YouTube, for making such things possible…when the world goes to sh*t, we now know who to blame.
That's not all. The new trailer takes jabs at other popular headlines, such as the military losing track of and effectively arming Menendez with an arsenal of powerful weapons. Yes sir, the troublesome times we are currently could very well lead to this bleak future.
When I first heard another Call of Duty title, I was ready to throw in the towel. But this new trailer, one that paints a realistic, but grim picture of the future has me intrigued. This could really happen! Heck, even the zombie apocalypse could happen!
While enjoying the trailer be sure to pay attention to the theme song, which was just revealed as the work of Nine Inch Nails' frontman Trent Reznor.
