You’ve Got Layton in my Ace Attorney!

Although everyone’s favorite spiky haired lawyer hasn’t been announced as a participant in Capcom’s upcoming crossover fighter with Marvel, that hasn’t stopped them from making fanboy dreams come true. As part of Level-5’s Vision press conference in Japan, the final title that was announced was a surprise announcement that Level-5 has teamed up with Capcom for a crossover between two of their flagship series; Professor Layton (Layton Kyouju) and Ace Attorney (Gyakuten Saiban.)

Titled “Layton Kyouju vs Gyakuten Saiban” or “Professor Layton vs Ace Attorney” as it will probably be called in English, it was revealed that Ace Attorney designer Shu Takumi will be heading up the project and creating the scenario for the upcoming game.

Official materials have promoted the new game as a game that puts players against puzzles with contradictions inside of it; the two formers being recognizable as the theme of each respective series. The story has Professor Hershel Layton and Phoenix Wright finding themselves in an alternative medieval world, called Labyrinth City, where reality and illusions combine. Phoenix’s new client is a person accused of being a witch, with the city being controlled by a villain named Story Teller where whatever he writes becomes reality. Other characters that have been confirmed for the crossover include Phoenix’s assistant Maya and Layton’s Luke.

A teaser site has been opened, with new more content coming later this week.
