Zelda: Breath of the Wild gets M-rating in Australia

It looks like The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild is closer to being completed than some delay rumors would have you believe. The Australian Classification board has rated the multi-platform game from Nintendo as M for Mature.

According to the rating board, Breath of the Wild contains themes and violence that were deserving of the M-rating. It should be noted, however, that the Australian classifications system is a bit more stern than in the United States. An M-rating in Australia translates to a T-rating in the United States.

With the game being rated, it suggests that the game is closer to the final phases of development than has been suggested. Recent rumors from Nintendo insiders have been suggesting that the game will be delayed in the coming months.

While the rating contradicts those rumors, it doesn't necessarily mean they are wrong. There are two versions of the game, the Wii U version and the Switch version. It's entirely possible that the Wii U version will launch ahead of the Switch version or that both versions will be delayed so the game can enter four-to-six months of testing.

As of now, The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild is stuck between the Nintendo release window of March 2017 and the rumored release of June. A recent retail listing for the Switch has suggested a March 17th, 2017 release date.
