Zelda for Wii U reportedly headed to NX for release in 2016

We knew it was coming.

While Nintendo frustrates third-party developers that are interested in developing games for their new console, the NX, the company has allegedly experienced a major leak. A Nintendo employee revealed information concerning the NX and its launch game to youTuber SuperMetaldave64 (video above).

The information has been verified through another individual, a NeoGaf moderator, making this information very likely to be true.

According to the Nintendo source, the Nintendo NX is 'definitely' releasing in 2016, with the long delayed The Legend of Zelda for Wii U as a launch title. Even though Zelda is moving to the NX, a Wii U version of the game will still release.

"I can confirm 100 that the Nintendo NX is definitely launching in 2016 and Zelda NX will be a launch window release. So, it will either launch on the NX or shortly after the release of the NX."

"Either way Nintendo is trying to release Zelda U and Zelda NX at the same time period for the holiday season in 2016. Also no other launch games were revealed to me for the NX at this time but the source informed me that they will confirm more information, if possible, in the future."

The source did not go on to reveal details on what the NX is, but since Zelda is on the system it further supports that thoughts that the NX is a home console. It has been believed that the NX would launch this year and theorized by fans that Zelda was delayed in order to release on the upcoming console.

Until Nintendo confirms this, we have to take it with a grain of salt.
