Yesterday, reports trickled in saying that The Elder Scrolls Online: Tamriel Unlimited will require unique verification codes on the console, making the game yours for life. It was suggested that the game would work similarly to how PC MMOs work – once you log in and put the game on your PC, you can no longer trade it in or sell it. This information came from a ZeniMax representative.
The ZeniMax representative was wrong and they admit that they had supplied the community with incorrect information. Taking to the forums (where the initial incorrect information was released) a ZeniMax rep cleared up the misunderstanding.
The Elder Scrolls Online: Tamriel Unlimited will work as any physical Xbox One or PlayStation 4 game. There will be no unique verification code tying you to the game – you will be able to sell it, trade it, give it away or buy it used.
Hey there everyone,
Thanks for your patience with this and for all of the additional questions. The information in the previous post was incorrect, and we have received further clarification on how the physical edition will work on the consoles.
The physical console version of The Elder Scrolls Online: Tamriel Unlimited does not require a one-time game code. As with any other boxed PS4 / Xbox One game only the game disc is needed for verification.
