In a recent interview with Kevin Smith, writers Paul Wernick and Rhett Reese revealed that they are working on the sequel to 'Zombieland' with everyone set to return.
Deadpool writers, Paul Wernick and Rhett Reese, met with writer/director, Kevin Smith, on AMC's 'Geeking Out'. Among the topics discussed were the plans they had for the sequel to the 2009 smash hit, 'Zombieland'. It seems that the orginial quartet of zombie-killers, Jesse Eisenberg, Woody Harrelson, Emma Stone, and Abigail Breslin, are all set to return and have high hopes for what's in store. According to the duo:
"We're sitting with Woody [Harrelson] tomorrow and are going to sort of walk him through some of the stuff we want to do. All the cast is pretty excited."
While on the subject, they were asked by Smith how Bill Murray came to be involved in the first movie. Apparently, his former 'Kingpin' cast member, Woody Harrelson, was able to facilitate his casting, despite Murray not having a manager or agent with which to get in touch. After a lengthy process of pursuing such actors as Patrick Swayze, Sylvester Stallone, Kevin Bacon, Mark Hamill, and Jean-Claude Van Damme, who all turned down the role for various reasons.
'Zombieland 2' is still in the writing stages, but it seems that news and updates are beginning to emerge, so keep your eyes peeled for what's to come.
