Consoles:

There are so many 3DS and 2DS versions that you have quite the selection to choose from. The normal 2DS goes for $99.99. My five-year-old son has one and younger kids are the demographic for the 2DS. It plays 3DS games without the 3D functionality, and there's bundles that include a game like Mario Kart 7. Here's a list of the bundle offerings from GameStop. I personally prefer the NES Edition 3DS XL for $199.99.

Games:

Bravely Default

Bravely Default is an amazing game with top-notch presentation that harks back to the golden years of RPGs, all while introducing bold, new mechanics that flip the RPG genre on its head. If you currently own a 3DS, this game is a no brainer. [Review]

Pokemon Omega Ruby / Alpha Sapphire

With some new features and gameplay elements, the classic Pokemon formula manages to feel new. It's a combination of the old challenge from Pokemon Ruby and Sapphire and the gorgeous 3D visuals from X and Y.

Tomodachi Life

The entire GameZone staff recommends Tomodachi Life. It's incredibly addicting and entertaining. You fill an island with a cornucopia of characters and supervisor as you pamper certain characters and try to guide their friendships and relationships. It's beyond weird, but its humor and charm make this a lot of fun. [Review]

Super Smash Bros. 3DS

Super Smash Bros. for the 3DS is an extremely well-designed game. While everyone can't huddle around a big screen and play together, the 3DS version of the awesome brawler is fully featured and gives you the Super Smash Bros. experience on-the-go. [Review]

Theatrhythym Final Fantasy Curtain Call

With a huge selection of music, a large list of unlockables and a fun selection of modes, Curtain Call is well worth the encore it's getting on the 3DS. If you've played and enjoyed Theatrhythym, we highly recommenced this version. And if you haven't played it, what are you waiting for? [Review]

Persona Q

Persona Q is the love child between the Persona franchise and Etrian Odyssey, and it totally delivers. It's a delightful mix of Persona elements, Etrian systems and new gameplay make the Nintendo debut of Persona quite the captivating experience. Pretty much a must-buy for fans of the Persona and Etrian franchises. [Review]

Fantasy Life

Fantasy Life surprisingly makes chores fun, and there's enough variety in each Life to make them all worth diving into. Whether you're a Life Sim or RPG fan, or perhaps a fan of Level-5's work, it's a game worth diving into headfirst. [Review]
