Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel
If you love Borderlands, The Pre-Sequel will give you more of what you love with some new classes and the story of Handsome Jack. There’s tons of loot, action and humor. It’s more of the Borderlands you’ve played before, which can be good or bad depending on whether or not you are burnt out on the series. [Review]
The Banner Saga
The Banner Saga has a bleak story that challenges you with harsh decision and grim results. It’s not without its flaws, but The Banner Saga is a fun playthrough with difficult, tactical turn-based combat, an Oregon Trail-style adventure, and fantastic hand-drawn visuals. [Review]
South Park: The Stick of Truth
This comedic RPG definitely caters towards fans of the show, but there’s enough depth and entertainment to appeal to general gamers as well. The combat keeps things exciting in between the crude humor. [Review]
Child of Light
Child of Light is a mesmerizing fairytale where you’ll admire the gorgeous visuals and the thought-provoking story. The combat is organized chaos with the active battle system that is presented simplistically, but puts a twist on the turn-based combat you might be used to. [Review]
The Sims 4
A fresh start for The Sims franchise, Sims 4 wipes the slate clean of content but improves upon many of the ideas of its predecessor. It’s the same ol’ fun you’ve always had with the game, but with a lot of quality of life improvements to Build Mode, and an emphasis on emotions. [Review]
WildStar
For MMORPG players out there, WildStar offers fast-paced free-aiming combat that requires more skill than just button presses. There’s a fair amount to do for casual players — from PvP and solo content to housing — but it definitely caters to hardcore players with the over-the-top raids. If you like World of Warcraft’s visuals with sci-fi flair, you’ll like WildStar. [Review]
Valiant Hearts
Valiant Hearts: The Great War’s story, art direction and soundtrack all seamlessly blend together for a presentation that elicits all different types of emotion. It’s a beautiful depiction of the horrific effects of war as you experience it with puzzles and through the eyes of five characters. [Review]
Fenix Rage
This is a stylish and vibrant platformer that’s incredibly difficult and will frustrate you beyond belief. Part Super Meat Boy, part Flappy Bird. You’ll die a lot, but beating a level feels oh so rewarding. Definitely a must for fans of Super Meat Boy that enjoy a challenge. [Review]
Civilization Beyond Earth
Any game where you can to transform humanity into a race of Cybermen to go back, conquer Earth, and upload everyone’s consciousness to a great network is a damn good game IMHO. Beyond Earth is a logical buy for any fan of past Civilization fans, as the game stays fresh with new ideas and systems. [Review]
Alien: Isolation
Alien: Isolation isn’t a perfect game, but it’s one that finally does the Alien franchise justice. The fear of not being able to fight off the xenomorph is terrifying. If you want a tense survival horror game with awesome analog sci-fi, this is the way to go. [Review]
The Evil Within
It’s not easy for a game with the name Shinji Mikami attached to it to live up to the hype, but The Evil Within does a nice job of staying true to its roots. It’s more gory than scary, but that didn’t stop us from jumping a couple of times. A must for survival horror fans that want resource management and puzzles. [Review]
Dragon Age: Inquisition
Want to see how the Dragon Age series plays out? Get Inquisition, the biggest game in the series with great combat, and a huge world filled with tons of quests to go with it. This is a must-buy for Dragon Age fans, and a good RPG if you’re looking for that. [Review]
World of Warcraft: Warlords of Draenor
The newest expansion for the most popular MMORPG of all-time, World of Warcraft: Warlords of Draenor is great for vets and newcomers alike, as it includes a boost of any character to level 90. If you’re going to play World of Warcraft, buy this. [Review]
Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare
Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare is the best Call of Duty game made in years. It has a fun, strong campaign headlined by Kevin Spacey and Troy Baker, and the multiplayer brings in the future of weaponry as you’ll be able to boost and double-jump around the map. [Review]
