This morning, Nintendo is holding a press conference in New York, unveiling details regarding the US launch of the 3DS.
It was just revealed that the 3DS will launch on March 27, 2011, at a price tag of $249.99. Colors available at the US launch will be Aqua Blue and Cosmo Black.
Some of the new software bundled with the 3DS includes a pedometer app (with in-game rewards), and a Mii application similar to the one on Wii. The Mii application uses the camera, and Miis will be automatically swapped via the 3DS StreetPass function. Friend codes are used again for online gaming, though users only have to exchange codes once (no software-specific friend codes this time). New VC with old Game Boy and Game Boy Color titles is present as well.
No launch games were announced, though 30 titles are expected to be available at the “launch window” between the system’s release in March and E3 in June.
