Banjo-Tooie’s Stop ‘n’ Swop Revealed

Banjo-Tooie arrives on Xbox LIVE Arcade this Wednesday, and The Rare Witch Project has gotten the scoop on the eagerly-awaited Stop ‘n’ Swop feature, one which was originally planned to be implemented into the Nintendo 64 originals, but instead had to be axed due to a revision of the hardware that would have excluded some users.

The following video could be considered a spoiler– TRWP certainly does, so proceed with caution.

“People have often said that once Stop ‘n’ Swop is revealed,” TRWP says, “you’ll be disappointed because it will never live up to the hype we’ve given it. That may not be far from the truth. Aside from the four rewards you got in the original version, there are just two added bonuses for trekking from one game to another.”

The additional bonuses are revealed to be a Gamerpic and a Banjo-Kazooie theme for the Xbox 360. However, that’s not all…

“…for anyone that can do maths, you’ll notice that there is one egg left over. Getting Heggy to hatch this one and you are told about………..Stop ‘n’ Swop II.”

You can find out more here, where it is theorized that Stop ‘n’ Swop goes a step further than the original plan, and interacts with Banjo-Kazooie: Nuts & Bolts and its DLC.

They also dig into a game mode known as “Bottles Revenge,” which is not accessible by normal means, though it’s present in the game code. “This was exactly the case with the original Banjo-Tooie, so this adheres to the faithful port plan. ;)”
