Best Value: Raze’s Hell

Raze’s Hell

Published by: Majesco
Developed by: Artech Studios
Released April 21, 2005

Why we chose it: Budget titles don’t get a lot of credit for anything. Occasionally a low budget gem manages to sneak its way past the corporate elite and proves that small developers can get good work in as well. The story is nothing new: A Nazi-esq regime invading a village on a far away planet, the rise of the lone hero, etc. It has all been done before. The twist here is that the bad guys are really, REALLY cute. I mean they look like a cross between a Care Bear and a Teletubbie, while the hero is the hideous monster. Combine this with tons of single player, mini-games, and a lot of online multi-player games (including an ultraviolent version of soccer) and you have one heck of a value in a $20 package.
