Last week Nintendo confirmed release dates for both Wii Fit and Mario Kart Wii for Europe, both of which will surprisingly hit before they do stateside. The reason for this has now become a bit more apparent after speaking with Nintendo president Reggie Fils-Aime.
1UP had the chance to meet up with the man himself and grill him on why Europe would be seeing releases of both titles before the US and Reggie responded with, “Yeah, but they don’t get Smash Brothers until fall.”
Now it appears the combined releases of both Wii Fit and Mario Kart Wii are a sort of apology on Nintendo’s behalf for a more than late Brawl release. The reason for this serious delay according to Reggie was because of production issues. Reggie explained the only way they would be able to counter this problem would be to open up new factories in order to increase production, a move that would be costly and in not very profitable in the long run.
