Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 is finally here. As most of you will soon find out, jumping straight into multiplayer without any idea of the maps, weapons and scorestreaks will be difficult. Luckily for you, I’ve been playing the game almost exclusively with countless trial and error to bring you my thoughts and weapon choices for each map. You see, every map is vastly different from one another and you have five different classes to make, so you better make good use of them. I will be going in alphabetical order for the on-disk maps while DLC maps (such as Nuketown 2025) will be last. When the first pack of DLC comes out, I will add to this ever-expanding list.
Map #1 Aftermath
The first map that we get to look at is Aftermath, based on Los Angeles if it was going through a tough time. This is a close quarters map so leave your sniper rifle at home.
You will see a lot of firefights in the middle of this map. Enemies will try to ambush you through the rubble and catch you while you’re not looking. You have to keep your eyes open and walk slowly in order to spot enemies easier as they tend to blend into the map a little bit. Never dash across the middle of the map since there are always players waiting for you. The buildings on the far corners are the only places I’ve seen people sniping from, as the sniper could only see a small portion of the map in this level. If you walk through the middle of the map, make sure to stay on the sides of the map. This way you can look ahead while looking a bit off to the side. If you find yourself located by a building, try sneaking around the map to see if there are any enemies sniping up top. You should be able to sneak up and knife them in the back if they don’t have any equipment down.
The random destruction in the level might be off-putting to some, but overall I think this map represents a good balance for Assault Rifles and SMGs. This might be one of the worst sniper maps in the game, so I advise you not to use that at all costs.
Weapon Recommendation
Aftermath is a great place for fans of Assault Rifles and Submachine guns. I stick to my trusty Type 25, which I compare to the FAMAS from the original Black Ops. Having a gun that fires quick and can be used at a further distance will give you an advantage over the SMG players, who usually sprint across the middle of the map trying to engage you in a close quarter fight.
I had some success using the LSAT (Light Machine Gun class) since it has 100 bullets and a Target Finder attachment after you unlock it. With the LSAT, you don’t need to reload the weapon as this is a small map and you will die a lot. This gives you an advantage over the assault rifle classes and SMG classes who constantly have to reload their much smaller clips.
Also, equip the super useful Target Finder on your weapon.
Pick 10
For Pick 10, you have the ability to choose exactly how your class is played. You can switch out your own weapons instead of using the ones I recommend as it’s mostly the class that matters. My ideal Pick 10 for Aftermath is as followed
Primary – Type 25 (AR)
————Attachments – Target Finder, Quick Draw, Fore Grip
Secondary – None
Perk 1 – Hardline
Perk 2 – Cold Blooded
Perk 3 – Dead Silence
Lethal – Grenade
Tactical – Shock Charge
Wildcards – Primary Gunfighter (3 primary weapon attachments)
Scorestreaks
The best Scorestreaks for Aftermath are as followed:
UAV – See where the enemies are on this crowded map
Sentry Gun – Place this where the enemies are and watch it tear through them
Lightning Strike – Pick three places on the map for a missile strike (pick the middle)
Hellstorm Missle – Pick an area that is clustered with missiles (pick the middle)
Care Package – Hope you get the best scorestreaks in the game
Overall Thoughts
Aftermath is a good map, one of the ones I enjoy the most in fact. Get ready for constant firefights and make sure you have a good set of scorestreaks in order to truly dominate the map. Bring your Assault Rifle or your SMG for success, and remember, the Target Finder is key.
