Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 map strategies – Hydro

The first DLC for Call of Duty: Black Ops 2, Revolution, is out now for Xbox 360. With each new map comes specific strategies and I will be going over each of the four new maps in alphabetical order in order to help you be the best soldier you can be. Remember, you also get the powerful Peacekeeper SMG in the Revolution map pack so be sure to use it. Viva la Revolution.

Map #18 Hydro

Hydro gets its name from the abundance of water on the lower level part of the map, well at least that’s how I imagine it did.

This map is well balanced and is pretty much symmetrical throughout. There are two, second floor ramps on each side of the map that you have to look out for as this is the only elevated parts on Hydro. There’s also a little building in the middle with a ladder that leads down into the water part of the map where you can see each elevated ramp part on each side. The middle area is dangerous to be in since enemies can come up the ladder and enter from either side. This is where shock charges, claymores and C4 come in handy if you want to defend this part of the map.

The outsides of the map also have some tight corners for you to fight through and they make the map challenging as well as fun. You can access the watery underneath area from either side of the map. The water area is perfect for getting out of harms way as you’re completely underneath the chaos going on above. The water area is straightforward; just watch out for the occasional enemy taking a break down there.

Weapon Recommendation

This is another perfect map for the Peacekeeper, or whatever SMG you use, as it’s a medium to close-range type map. I went back to the suppressor since I was sick of people finding me after I killed someone, and the foregrip is a necessity for accuracy. I also used the claymore for this map since it can protect me along with the shock charge either on the ramps or in the middle area of the map.

Pick 10

Primary – Peacekeeper

Attachments – Target Finder, Suppressor, Foregrip

Secondary – None

Perk 1 – Lightweight

Perk 2 – Cold Blooded

Perk 3 – Dead Silence

Lethal – Claymore

Tactical – Shock Charge

Wildcard – Primary Gunfighter

Scorestreaks

The new rule I have for scorestreaks is to keep it simple, or hope you get something good in a care package. These are the scorestreaks I picked for Hydro:

Lightning Strike – Pick three areas and hope for the best

Care Package – Hope for an elite scorestreak to drop

UAV – Find your enemies

Turret – Put this on one of the ramps for a lot of kills

RC-XD – Drive till you find someone and pull the trigger

Overall Thoughts

Hydro is a good map and is a lot of fun. The symmetrical aspect of it coupled with its perfect size will keep the action intense and make you want to come back for more. Hydro succeeds in every area and is a strong addition to the Black Ops 2 multiplayer.

What do you think of Hydro? Did you find similar playstyles to mine helpful? What are your strategies for Hydro? Let me know in the comments below.
