During World War II, pilots frequently decorated their planes with personalized insignia – nose art. This art varied hugely – from cartoony references to the pilot’s nickname, to beautiful women representing a personification of the plane itself, there was a lot of room for creativity.
We want you, the future player of Combat Wings: Great Battles of WWII, to create a nose art image for us. We will only pick a few images to use – the best of the best – and if yours is one of them, you will not only have the glory of seeing your image in the game, but your name will also appear in the game credits, and you will win a free copy of the game.
The decals should be created on white background in 1024×1024 resolutions.
For examples please see the pictures below.
Basic rules and guidelines:
Here’s a list of things you should be careful about:
o Expletives. Yes, you can have writing on your image, but no swearing.
o Gore. This is more than a ratings issue; it’s a case of appropriateness. Nobody drew garish depictions of death, blood and mutilation on their planes in WWII, plain and simple.
o Nudity. Sometimes, those beautiful nose-art women were a-little-less-than-scantily-clad… but again, we don’t want 18+. You may show a girl in a bikini, but no exposed genitalia. Not even a nipple!
o Nazi symbols, and swastikas specifically. Even if your swastika is actually a Buddhist symbol or a reference to the Finish Air Force – sadly, it’s a distinction the German ratings board fails to make. We may still consider using your image, but keep in mind we’ll have to edit it and remove these symbols from the German edition of the game.
o Other controversial symbols, especially religious ones. We’re happy to include an image with some variation of the Christian Cross – the Free French had ’em, so can you. But anything that could be controversial – or even simply would not make sense in our setting – we won’t use.
