Vivendi Universal Games has announced it is to bring the all-action adventures of James Cameron’s Dark Angel to the PlayStation 2 and Xbox video game systems. The game has been developed by Radical Entertainment, is being published by Sierra Entertainment Inc., a studio of Vivendi Universal Games, and is due for release on 21st February, 2003.
James Cameron’s Dark Angel is a stunning action show starring Jessica Alba as Max, a young girl trained as a killing machine by the military, but who has escaped and is trying to make a life for herself on the streets of Post Pulse Seattle in the 21st century. With vague memories of her ‘siblings’ at the military base, the series follows Max as she tries to find these ‘siblings’ in order to reclaim her past. Max feels that only if she can find her real family can she put her personal demons to rest and forget her military past, yet there are mysterious operatives out to prevent her reaching her goal.
Vivendi Universal Games’ title follows this premise extremely closely, utilising Max’s combat and stealth skills within a third-person action/adventure framework. Spanning 25 missions and six futuristic locations, Max is thrown into a series of situations where all her agility and fighting skills will come into play as she searches for the ‘siblings’ that may help her piece together her past. Max must also use her stealth abilities to infiltrate key installations, with James Cameron’s Dark Angel perfectly recreating the slow-motion effects that are used to such effect in the TV show.
The game also features Michael Weatherly’s Logan character, who acts as a mentor and advisor to the headstrong Max in both the game and the film. With Vivendi Universal Games committed to producing a game that truly does justice to the TV series, both Jessica Alba and Michael Weatherly have lent their vocal talents to their video game-based alter egos. Similarly, the James Cameron’s Dark Angel game will also boast an exclusive Jessica Alba photo gallery, cast interviews and additional bonus features on the game disc.
