Dark Souls II Boss Guide: Royal Rat Vanguard

The Royal Rat Vanguard. My strategy for this fight is to back yourself into a corner and fight off the rats as they approach you in hordes. I suggest a straight weapon or piercing damage. If you swing too wide you’ll hit the statues and they’ll mess you up. The boss isn’t there from the start, he’ll take some time to show up. Once he appears, you can murder his face off if you can find him. He actually looks a bit different than the rest of the rats. He has a mohawk on his back if you can pick him out. In this video, you can see I draw the horde close to me and once he appears I ditch them in the corner and hunt him down like the dirty rat he is. In no more than 5 attacks he dies.
