What it DOES do, it lets you talk to that scorpion guy (Manscorpion Tark) in the Shaded Woods at the bonfire after this misty forest area. If you talk to him before you fight the Scorpioness Najka you can summon him for the battle. After you kill her, he’ll give you a Branch of Yore and a Second Dragon Ring.
