Dead Rising 3’s DLC made me run out to buy the game. Again.

…at the end of the day, there’s always the option to snap Netflix, mash buttons, and kill zombies. That’s a lot of fun, so that counts for something, right?

These are my ultimate thoughts regarding Dead Rising 3, one of the Xbox One’s exclusive launch titles.

Well, console exclusive it seems.

Because of this, I ultimately came to the conclusion that I really didn’t want to revisit its world ever again. I took advantage of an insane trade-in deal at Best Buy which allowed me to exchange Dead Rising 3 for Mario Golf: World Tour straight up. I haven’t looked back.

Until E3 and the announcement of an absolutely insane and over-the-top Dead Rising 3 DLC, that is.

Crap.

Many consider this surprise to be one of the best parts about E3. A recent trend in this regard is to come out and say “oh by the way, this is new and it’s available…NOW!” I remember when Microsoft said “hey, we have the original DOOM available on Xbox Live right now so—“ they didn’t even need to finish their sentence before I was downloading and playing. Sony, EA, and Bungie did the same thing with Entwined, the Battlefield: Hardline Beta, and Destiny Alpha respectively.

None of those involve me running out to pick up a video that still inexplicably costs $59.99, though.

Because of this, I feel like I may be putting Dead Rising 3’s DLC, which will take longer to type out than all of Daenerys Targaryen’s titles, on too high of a pedestal. I might be expecting far too much from the content.

I hope that isn’t the case.
