Dr. David’s Indie Roundup: Hate Plus, Hot Tin Roof, Where Is My Heart?, and more

As tends to be the case, if you're a fan of indie games, there's a lot for you to be excited about right now. There are some rad sales going on, but even better than that, there are also a slew of upcoming titles for next-gen hardware to be totally stoked about. Additionally, one of my personal favorite PlayStation Network favorites will soon be making its way to the PC, which means more folks will get to play and enjoy it. Then there's the anticipated sequel to a critically acclaimed visual novel, which is out now.

Gamescom 2013: A bunch of indie games are coming to PSN

A number of rad indie titles are hitting Sony platforms. The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth, Fez, Hotline Miami 2: Wrong Number, Starbound, Volume, and Wasteland Kings are just a few of the titles hitting the PlayStation 4 when the next-gen platform arrives in North America on November 15. Those same games plus many more will also be available on the Vita, thus furthering the support from indies on Sony's handheld device.

Hate Plus is now available on Steam

If you dug Digital: A Love Story and Analogue: A Hate Story, you should probably check out the freshly released Hate Plus. A sequel to Analogue, this latest entry in developer Christine Love's popular visual novel series tells a brand new tale filled with “transhumanism, cosplay, cake-baking, and the slow patriarchal erosion of freedoms taken for granted.” As indicated by the title, the hatred is pretty high in this text-heavy adventure.

Hate Plus is available for $9.99 on Steam.

Hot Tin Roof is a delightful-looking detective platformer on Kickstarter

Any game that gives me squishy good feelings by virtue of its trailer alone will almost always make its way onto my radar. And really, Hot Tin Roof: The Cat That Wore a Fedora could give most people instant bliss due to its title alone. Aside from that, though, there appears to be a genuinely interesting game in the works by Glass Bottom Games. The project is an exploratory platformer starring a hard-boiled detective and her fedora-sporting cat. Okay, if that's not enough to send your brain into sensory overload, I have no idea what is.

Spend all your monies on the PSN 2013 PAX Prime Indie Game Sale

It's funny how sales can lead to people being broke. Well, prepare for even more poverty sauce, because Sony recently announced the 2013 PAX Prime Indie Game Sale. You can save between 65 and 75 percent on select titles including Closure, Journey, Limbo, and Tokyo Jungle. The sale is going on now and will take place until September 2, so if you're looking to check out something that you may have missed, head on over to the PlayStation Blog for the full list of discounted games.

Where Is My Heart? is coming to the PC next month

If you've yet to play Where Is My Heart? from Die Gute Fabrik, you really need to change that. Okay, so maybe you couldn't play it before because you don't own a Sony console. Thankfully, that's about to change in September as the lovingly crafted puzzle-platformer makes its way to the PC. Where Is My Heart? is very easily one of the best experiences I've had the pleasure of enjoying these past few years. It's a totally mesmerizing adventure set in a dreamy, colorful world that's been fragmented into pieces and is just begging for you to jump right in.
