Dr. David’s Indie Roundup: Sportsfriends, Transistor, Kentucky Route Zero, and more

It's all about new releases on this edition of the Indie Roundup. We're taking a look at three games that have just launched, as well as an exciting, highly anticipated title. All that, plus we recap the latest indie game reviews on GameZone. It's always a great time be an indie game aficionado, especially when there are so many great solo and multiplayer experiences coming out.

Okay, let's get this thing rolling and talk indie games!

Full Bore pushes its way onto Steam

We've seen block puzzlers before, but Full Bore takes the familiar formula and rebrands it into a pig puzzler. Aptly named developer Whole Hog Games has just released the game on Steam, and already its received a positive reception from fans and critics alike.

Full Bore features a slick art style, engaging puzzles, a two-part adventure, and of course, a title that's just really fun to say. The game hit Steam on May 6 and is available for $14.99, though you can currently snag it at a discounted $13.49.

Kentucky Route Zero keeps on truckin' with Act 3

Well, people, it's finally here. After a minor delay, Kentucky Route Zero: Act 3 has arrived. Developed by Cardboard Computer, the latest chapter in the five-part point-and-click adventure game series continues to tell the surreal tale of a delivery truck driver.

If you've already invested your time into the first two parts of Kentucky Route Zero, be sure to play Act 3 now that it's available. And if you haven't, get on board, will ya?

You can download the game on Steam for $24.99 — currently on sale for $18.74 — which includes the three released acts and two upcoming acts when those are available.

Sportsfriends brings its wacky Olympics to PS4 and PS3

The games are on as local multiplayer game fest extraordinaire Sportsfriends has launched on the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 3. Bringing together four wild games, the compilation from Die Gute Fabrik is all about playing with your buddies and having a good time in person — none of this disconnected online multiplayer tomfoolery!

BaraBariBall is an old school ball-based 2D fighting experience. Super Pole Riders is all about physics with its pole vaulting action. Hokra brings abstract soccer-like mayhem with its sporty, goal-scoring focus. Then there's Johann Sebastian Joust, which is the most physical of the games, actually requiring players to interact with one another.

If you dig playing games with your pals, check out this compendium of local multiplayer awesomeness. Sportsfriends is available now on the PlayStation Network for $14.99, with both versions available to you once you purchase the PlayStation 3 edition. Stay tuned for more on the home computer versions.

You can now pre-order Transistor for $19.99

Supergiant Games is prepping for the launch of its second title Transistor, which is due out this month. Following the critical success of Bastion, this upcoming game continues the studio's brand of RPG-focused gameplay, this time across lovingly designed sci-fi environments.

Transistor is available for pre-order now on both the PlayStation Network and Steam. You can purchase the game for $19.99. In addition, you can get a game-and-soundtrack bundle on Steam for $29.98.
