I talked about Night Shift as a part of the Early Access Authorized column we run here at GameZone. After a couple comments about the music, I've decided that I should probably show you Night Shift. It features really, really awesome music by Dance with the Dead.
Currently $4.99 on Steam and still in Early Access, Night Shift is the defintion of an impulse buy based off an interesting premise. The gameplay is essentially done, but creator Brandon Brizzi explains that the story is incomplete. The success of Night Shift will determine how much narrative will be added to the full release.
Here's the full Q&A from the Early Access page:
Why Early Access?
“The gameplay and mechanics of Night Shift are ready to go, but the story is incomplete. How much story I can do depends entirely on how people react to Night Shift! I’ve got some crazy ideas I want to try out, but I won’t be able to do it without your support!”
How long will this game be in Early Access?
“Anywhere from a couple months to the rest of the year. It all depends on what the community enables me to do!”
How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?
“On the docket is more levels, story cinemas, controller support, OSX support, and steam integration, which includes achievements and trading cards. I’ll put emphasis on story cinemas, there are currently none in Night Shift and they would be the largest addition.”
What is the current state of the Early Access version?
“Night Shift is ready to be played on Windows PCs! The core gameplay is done, with a portion of the game available in the Early Access version.”
Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?
“Current plans are to keep the price of Night Shift the same, even after full release.”
How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?
“How crazy I can get with the story totally depends on you guys, so let me know what you think! In the meantime, enjoy the portion of the game that I’m making available. There’s a good bit more waiting for you when everything else is done!
