Echochrome Follow-up Reemerges

The spiritual sequel to Sony Japan’s echochrome has re-emerged on the Playstation Blog with a more concrete details and a demo release date.

echoshift for the PSP will be a puzzle game not unlike its predecessor where players navigate a mannequin-like figure to the goal of a platforming stage. The twist here is that players will have to cooperate with recordings of their previous attempts as they play each level multiple times.

A demo will be available sometime this February, but so far the game has only been announced for the PSP, unlike its predecessor which had slightly different versions on PSP and PS3.

The game will have three different modes, 30 different types of puzzles, eight worlds, and 56 puzzles in all will be included in the initial release with downloadable levels coming later.

The basic mode will be called “cast.” Additional modes will require players to find keys or give them the ability to stop time.
echoshift was originally unveiled as “echochrono” at E3 2009 but had received its new name by the Tokyo Game Show later that year.
