A Rockstar spokesperson has confirmed that while they are supporting downloadable extras exclusively for Grand Theft Auto IV on the 360, it is unlikely the PS3 version will ever see additional content of its own, a move that seemingly makes the 360 the definitive system of choice for hardcore GTA fans.
During a recent display of Grand Theft Auto IV, Games Radar spoke with Rockstar’s Hosi Simon on whether the development team was implementing anything extra into the PS3 version. “Not that I can think of,” Simon said bluntly. “They’re identical games. We’re not hardware makers, and we’re not like a pawn between these companies, we try not to be as much as we can. We make great games for people to enjoy on whichever system they want.â€
He continued, “But I guess if you want the complete experience with the episodes, then yeah, you should buy the 360, I suppose.†The demo also revealed that development on the PS3 version is currently around two weeks behind the 360 game. Framerate issues that were noticed at E3 have reportedly been smoothed out a bit.
Both versions are due out in stores in the US on October 16 for $59.99.
