Final Fantasy XV Guide: Completing Keycatrich Dungeon

How to get the Axe of the Conquerer

If you haven't played Final Fantasy XV yet, STOP reading and check out our 5 tips and trick article!

In the world of Final Fantasy XV there are eleven tombs scattered throughout the world that hold the remains of former Kings of Lucis. Noctis and his companions can travel to each tomb to retrieve the Royal Arms; powerful weapons that only Noctis can use. The Royal Arms, or Armiger, drain Noctis of HP whilst equipped so they should only be reserved for when a fight is dire. After acquiring the Sword of the Wise which is essentially given to you, you are set on a path for Keycatrich Dungeon where the Tomb of the Conquerer resides. In the video above, we have an entire walkthrough of the dungeon, showing all hidden items locations as well as the battles in store for you inside.

The dungeon is fairly easy, but keep your wits about you as Goblin’s like to fall from the ceiling and pop out from rooms as soon as you open the door! If you suffer from arachnophobia like myself you’re in for a rough time, as deeper in the dungeon you come into contact with giant tarantulas. The arachnid ante ups from there, as the last thing between you and the Axe of the Conquerer is Arachne, a half spider/half she-devil hybrid. Attacking her from behind is recommended, but be careful as she can spin her web which will hold Noctis in place allowing her to cause massive damage. Her other big attack is jumping up and dropping with a lightning smash, so if she’s in the air get as far away from her as possible. Arachne is susceptible to heavy weapons and machinery, so your broadsword and the Auto Crossbow you find moments before will be your best tools.

Below is a complete list of all the collectibles in the dungeon:

  • Metal Scrap (use this to upgrade weapons with Cid at Hammerhead)
  • Electrolytic Condenser x2
  • Carbon Bangle
  • Rusted Bit x2
  • Oracle Ascension Coin x2 (don’t sell these! They can be used later on in the game to grab powerful gear)
  • Green Choker
  • Potion
  • Ether x4
  • Laser Sensor
  • Auto Crossbow
  • Hi-Elixir
