Months ago, Nintendo and Opera teamed up to release a beta version of the Opera Web Browser for Nintendo Wii. While you can hop online and view your favorite websites with the browser, it also serves a more fascinating and entertaining purpose: it allows you to play flash games on your TV with the Wii-mote. Internet addicts are already well aware of the fact that flash games can be surprisingly fun, but they might not be aware that there are some flash games on the ‘Net that work perfectly with the Wii-mote. We’ve done all the hard work for you here. We’ve searched and searched and searched, coming up with a list of some of our favorite flash games to play on Wii. Check it out below.

3D Logic

What it’s all about: 3D Logic starts off easy but quickly becomes an intimidating puzzler. The game’s premise is to make a path from one color box to the similar color on another side of the cube. There are a few catches though, you can’t go through a black square, and as the game progresses, more colors are introduced to the cube. For example if you have 2 blue color blocks, you have to connect them through a path using the other neutral blocks. However there may also be 2 red color blocks which need to be connected as well. Naturally you can’t have them intersect otherwise one connection will be lost. It sounds hard on paper, but is even harder in practice. The game definitely is entertaining though, and challenges the mind.

Duck Hunt

What it’s all about: Shame on you if you don’t know what this game is about. Dunk Hunt pays homage to the classic NES game of the same name. On the Wii the controls are simple with the Wiimote acting as the gun. The objective is to simply shoot and kill the duck. The game was highly desired as a virtual console title, but as a flash game it works very well and quenches our nostalgic feelings. Dunk Hunt even stays true to it’s NES original and doesn’t let you shoot the dog, despite our tendency to want to try.

Line Rider

What it’s all about: Line Rider is addicting, and it’s hard to imagine coming from a game that doesn’t have any real goal. Essentially you just draw a line with your Wiimote and the little guy on the screen will ride it. You can make loop de loops, steep slopes, jumps and more. The game really has no limits to how long you can make your “line”. We’ve heard that Line Rider is actually coming to Wii as a full fledged game but unless it has some major improvements from this flash version, we can’t see much of a reason to purchase it. Line Rider on the net is good enough for us.

Missile 3D

What it’s all about: Missile 3D is basically a game that has you controlling a bullet inside what looks like the barrel of a gun. You have to maneuver the bullet through the different shaped holes inside the barrel. It’s not as easy as it seems, soon your bullet will be picking up speed and it’ll become increasingly difficult to maintain control. Despite it’s simple concept, Missile 3D is hard to put down. It can quickly become a contest to see who in the family, or group of friends, gets the farthest.

Paintball

What it’s all about: Paintball has a deceiving name, because the game is nothing like what it sounds. You have to draw lines guiding a little paintball to a box. Imagine Line Rider (above) but with an endpoint. Unlike Line Rider, Paintball has levels, each of which make the ball harder to reach the box. The game isn’t really that hard and is very forgiving allowing you to restart a level as many times as you like. It’s interesting to see which ways will get you to the endpoint in the least amount of time. Definitely an interesting and fun game to try out.

Quarkz

What it’s all about: We almost didn’t include Quarkz in our list, but because we decided that we wanted to include as many flash games that we liked as possible, it ended up being included. The goal is simple: you want to gain as much control of the map as you can. How do you do that? By setting of nuclear reactions. The game is mainly controlled by pointing and clicking, which is easy with the Wii-mote. What’s more, you can play against a CPU or a friend in multiplayer. Enough ramble, check it out yourself.

Tactical Assassin

What it’s all about: This flash game is a little more complex than some of the others on our list. Controlling it is simple. The goal of the game is to assassin a specific target on screen, as you play a sniper. But what makes it complex is that prior to each mission, you have to read through a bunch of text explaining your objective. The mission statement will give you all you need to know in order to figure out which target on screen to shoot. However, sometimes it is a puzzle in itself figuring out which stick figure to snipe.

Tangerine Panic

What it’s all about: Tangerine Panic is probably one of the most basic flash games for the Wii, but it’s also quite humorous at the same time. The little stick figure that you control has to dodge an avalanche of never ending tangerines. That’s all you have to do; while it seems silly and hardly a challenge, Tangerine Panic will have you waving your Wiimote crazily hoping to keep that last life. Whoever heard of death by tangerines anyway?

Valo

What it’s all about: Valo could be classified as a puzzle game, but it’s also a little bit of action. Using the Wiimote you move the cursor around the blocks trying to eliminate all of them while not touching the red ones. If you happen to touch the red ones you health and when you run out, you eventually will die. The game is very fast paced and will move from one level to the next with little to no pause. After being utterly humiliated after the first few levels we decided to try the game out on the computer, and boy is it a lot easier. However, for those of you who want a real challenge, stick to playing it on the Wii and let us know how you do.

Winterbells

What it’s all about: Winterbells was our undisputed favorite. If we were supposed to be impartial…sorry, this game takes the cake. The game has you controlling a rabbit and bouncing around on little bells and white doves. However what makes this game so much fun and dare I say it, cute, is the music and animation that the game features. As you ascend through the sky each bell you hit will make a beautiful little “twing” and even if you fall, you’re little bunny won’t get hurt. For apparent reason it seems even better to play this game during the winter season, which it so easily fits in with. If you don’t fall in love with this flash game then you’re either too worried about your masculinity or you’re just weird.
