For years, Nintendo fans across North America would look on in jealousy at their comrades in Japan and even Europe as they got to enjoy the benefits of Club Nintendo, a customer loyalty program hosted by the company which would offer up rewards in exchange for a form of mock-currency earned by purchasing Nintendo products and games.
Then, at long last, North America finally got what it had been wishing for in late 2008. And while some of the rewards (including Nintendo-branded Hanafuda cards [a throwback to the company’s earliest days], Zelda posters, and a DS Game & Watch mini-compilation) have been most welcome, fans have still cast an envious eye abroad, where statues, t-shirts, soundtrack CDs, and special controllers have been the norm. And while the featured artwork may indeed be nice, it’s difficult for folders and postcards to pack the same “oomph.”
It is with that in mind that sub.lime.lemons has assembled a small list of items that it is believed Nintendo of America should bring over for their Club Nintendo program. This installment covers Europe, with Japan to soon follow, and odds are that one will be quite interesting indeed.
