Another year, another Assassins Creed. While some have targeted Ubisoft for releasing far too many Assassins Creed titles unfinished, at least they patched into good games. While the last two games have been hinting at something and greatly missing the modern-day events, Ubisoft promised that this new title will reveal exactly what the new narrative is and explain what the deal is between the Assassin and Templar Orders. Taking place in London during the Industrial Revolution, Assassins Creed Syndicate releases on October 23rd for PC, Playstation 4 and Xbox One.
Tom Clancy's The Division
Being developed by Ubisoft for Microsoft Windows, Playstation 4 and Xbox One, The Division is a long awaited title on the current gen systems. A massively multiplayer online action role-playing game that should no-doubt shine in multiplayer, will also offer a single player campaign for who completely miss the point. The game is set in an all-hell-broke-loose New York City after a virus spread. Your task is to restore order and discover the source of the virus. The games physics are definitely impressive, but not just because of a car door, but also because of a time-based weather system that players can use to their advantage when in the sh*t. The Division can't release soon enough on March 8th for PC, Playstation 4 and Xbox One.
We hope to get hands-on with most of these titles and promise to deliver everything we get a hold of. It's definitely a good year for gamers with the release of so many games pushing what games can do both graphically and via their gameplay. Stay tuned to Gamezone by either following us on Twitter or Facebook and expect a lot of news between Wednesday and Saturday!
Forza Motorsport 6
Not far away now, Forza Motorsport 6 will be releasing on September 15th exclusively on Xbox One. If you've played a Forza game since Forza Motorsport 4, you know there really isn't a better experience in racing on a gaming console. (Especially if you used Microsoft's wireless wheel) Turn 10 Studios is bringing us even more in the way of 26 tracks, 10 of which are new to the series. Also new are weather effects that will actually change the conditions of your handling, causing skidding or hydroplaning when encountering puddles at high speed. With online races containing up to 24 players and over 70 hours of single player gameplay in the new Stories of Motorsport campaign more, it's not hard to get revved up about this one.
Until Dawn
A title already "gone gold" weeks before its release, Supermassive Games is bringing fear exclusively to PS4 gamers in a whole new way. Set exactly one year after two friends went missing, a group a friends try to survive a night in a cabin after being hunted by a psychopath. The game uses the Umbra 3 engine, modified from the same engine they used for Killzone: Shadowfall and will encourage players to replay the game over and over so they can witness all the horror and possible outcomes. No one is safe from psycho clowns, traps designed to torture, and naturally, the dark. Until Dawn releases August 25th exclusively for Playstation 4.
Halo 5: Guardians
Microsoft says 'Halo' and money flies. Not only a long time staple of Major League Gaming, there are few people who are strangers to the series. This game will no doubt be a big system seller for the Xbox One as previous titles have always sold well and drawn gamers to the Xbox. Guardians is a direct sequel to Halo 4, and introduces a new protagonist, Spartan Locke, who must locate Master Chief while attempting to solve a mystery that threatens the galaxy. 343 will hopefully deliver despite not offering split-screen after the issues that plagued The Master Chief Collection. Halo 5: Guardians is releasing exclusively for Xbox One later this year on October 27th.
Rise of the Tomb Raider
While the timed exclusive release for Xbox One and Xbox 360 has probably upset the PC gaming world and totally irked Playstation 4 gamers, Square Enix and Microsoft have something to gloat about at Gamescom 2015 this year. After the previous games success and amazing gameplay, both developer and gamer can no doubt wait for the release of this title. Set in Siberia, Lara is out to find the ancient city of Kitezh before Trinity, who covered up her findings at Yamatai, can beat her to it. This game will no doubt define who Lara is and could very well take the series to new levels. Rise of the Tomb Raider releases on November 10th for Xbox consoles, early 2016 for Windows, and holiday 2016 for Playstation 4.
Star Wars Battlefront
We are all forced to wait until November 17th before Star Wars Battlefront is released on Windows and current-gen consoles, which is not so far way, but still an eternity. Using the new Frostbite 3 engine, Battlefront looks stunning. Pair that with several game modes, both in co-op and multiplayer that supports up to 40 players, this title could easily help us forget other MMO titles on Xbox One and Playstation 4. Battlefront will also deliver local split-screen gameplay. (Take that Halo 5)
Street Fighter V
Probably the longest running fighting game series in History, Capcom blew minds everywhere when they announced that their newest title, Street Fighter V, would only be released on the Playstation 4 and PC. The series has developed a lot since its initial release in 1987, and has never looked better. Offering a new V-Gauge system, specific character abilities and interactive arenas, who isn't looking forward to this Street Fighter title?
Deus Ex: Mankind Divided
Set two years after the events of Deus Ex: Human Revolution, the highly anticipated title from Square Enix and Eidos Montreal looks to be a hit in the making. Adam Jensen returns with more upgrades and perhaps less tolerance for naturals. The world has turned further against augmentation and augmented run terrorist groups have risen up to fight back. Adam must stop the terrorist groups and deal with the hidden powers behind Sarif Industries. Deus Ex: Mankind Divided is to be released sometime in 2016 on Windows and current-gen consoles.
Destiny: The Taken King
While many have moved on from Destiny, many are still passionate about the game and several are flocking to it. Despite the cost of the expansion and collectors edition content, we can't deny that Destiny, especially for PVPers, is a good time. The new expansion is looking more promising that the previous two after introducing The Taken, an alien race twisted by darkness that will antagonize the protectors of Earth. The Taken King releases on September 15th on current-gen and last-gen Xbox and Playstation consoles.
Just Cause 3
Releasing later this year on December 1st for Microsoft Windows and current-gen consoles, Just Cause 3 is set after the events of Just Cause 2. The antagonist, Rico, returns to his home, the island of Medici, and discovers it's been taken over by a brutal dictator. Rico is out to foil his plans of world domination and to save his home. Hoping to continue with the over-the-top action and not-so-serious mood of Just Cause 2, Avalanche studios has promised to deliver more content and freedom in their latest title. We will be hands on with Just Cause 3 at Gamescom and will have more to share soon.
Dying Light: The Following
Techland has produced a winner with Dying Light. The games community is going strong thanks to the intense gameplay and an immersive open-world, but Dying Light is about to get much bigger. In fact, The Following is going to give us a game world larger than all of the Dying Light maps we've seen so far to deliver "something big to that will give the game a brand-new flavor." Along with the map comes new equipment and drivable vehicles. All of this is tailors based off player comments, so this ought to be an epic expansion. Gamezone is privileged to be able to try it out on Wednesday at Gamescom! We will also be talking to the developers after to bring you their direct perspective behind the making of this expansion.
ELEX
The Nordic Games website states "Nordic Games + Piranha Bytes = ELEX". Standing for Eclectic Lavish Exhilarating and Xenial, ELEX is an open-world RPG set in a post-apocalyptic, seemless world with mutated creatures and deep moral choices that promises powerful action. From the creators of the Gothic series, this handcrafted experience is coming to Microsoft Windows, Playstation 4 and Xbox One sometime late 2016 or early 2017. Gamezone will be getting a first look ELEX at Gamescom 2015.
Hitman
Getting away from the linear structure of Hitman: Absolution, the new Hitman title will return to a more small sandbox style of ideally stealthy gameplay where players can complete their missions in several ways. The levels will be 6-7 times larger than in the previous title and countless NPCs might change the events depending on they react to the players actions. Hitman will release first digitally on December 8th later this year on Microsoft Windows, Playstation 4 and Xbox One, then will release for retail in early 2016. We will be hands-on with this title at Gamescom and look forward to bringing you more information!
GameZone is thrilled to announce that we will, for the first time, be attending Gamescom in Germany this year. In addition to the excitement of getting to play some new titles and expansions before release, we're also pumped to bring you news and information about upcoming games, both big and small, that interest our readers.
There's already been a lot of excitement this year with such large titles being announced, plus Blizzard and Microsoft promising to deliver big game news in the opening days of Gamescom 2015 and there stands to be much more. The following are some titles that we either have plans to see or would love to see at Gamescom this year.
Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain
Amid the drama that Konami pumped out this year with the letting-go of Hideo Kojima, dumping Silent Hills, and removing his name from anything related to the game, there still exists a fantastic game. Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain is the continuance of the long running series of titles and a open-world action-adventure game with stealth being its main focus. After a taste of the expensive demo Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes, it's about time we got our fill on the main course. Gamezone will be hands-on with this title and will be bringing you our first impressions and more!
