A double-dose of post-Game Developers Conference Dead Rising 2 news, for all you zombie-bashing blokes.
First up, MTV Multiplayer reveals that the game is aiming for a new record for characters on screen at one time: Over 6,000, according to Mental Mill Product Manager Laura Scholl. Character Art Lead Izmeth Siddeek, however, did not say whether or not the figure was accurate.
During his presentation, he told of how the Mental Mill software would enable Blue Castle to render many characters efficiently, and in visually distinct ways. This includes presenting a large number of characters without a reduction in graphic quality or having to take shortcuts which would see the game’s zombies attired in a smaller number of outfits.
IGN notes that during Scholl’s part of the presentation, she mentioned the 6,000 in conjunction with a multiplayer mode, though no other details were really available.
