GDC 2009: Wii Storage Solution Released

The Nintendo Wii has received an update. This update entails you the right to play VC games from your SD card. What does this mean? Well, it means if you have a 2GB SD card, then you’ll be able to save and play your games right from it. Added to the Main Menu, you’ll notice a small SD card. Clicking this will load all your games from the SD card and allow you choose the game you want to play. While it was expected to happen eventually, we can be happy to know that Nintendo has released an update and solution that doesn’t cost Wii owners a significant amount of money to take advantage of.

Nintendo also revealed that the Wii update will allow you to use SD cards up to 32GB. You’ll be able to store 240 games with the new solution on a SD card. So, go out and buy yourself a new SD card if you don’t have one. You’ll also be happy to know that the games load very quickly off the SD card.

Now get to your Wii and download this latest update. Nintendo listened. Be happy.
