Guardians of Middle-earth: Defender abilities, passives detailed

The defenders of Guardians of Middle-earth are your damage soaking, healers, and heavy crowd control characters.  The main focus of these characters is to draw the attention to them so your higher DPS guardians and destroy the opposition.  By no means does this mean defenders can dish it out though.  None conventional builds allow defenders to deal some high end damage as well.  Look towards these guardians to be your meat shields and supportive characters in most situations though.

Below are the detailed abilities and passives of each of the defenders.

Witch-king:

A/X: Malice

The Witch-king brings his malice into focus, enhancing his next Basic Attack with an additional 30/60/90/120 Ability Damage, and causing all Enemies within close range to receive Ability Damage every second worth 1% of the Witch-king’s maximum health while “Malice” is active.  The ability gains a large benefit from increased Ability Power.

X/[]: Darkness

Calling upon the Shadow, the Witch-king Taunts an Enemy target for 1.4/1.6/1.8/2.0 seconds, causing the Enemy to helplessly follow and attack him.  He also cloaks himself in an aura that reflects 25%, augmented by 1% of the Witch-king’s maximum health, of received Basic Damage back to his attacker while Darkness is active.  Note that relics activated upon Ability use are not triggered by “Darkness.” This ability gains no benefits from increased Ability Power.

B/O: Despair

Chilling his enemies to the bone and filling them with despair, the Witch-king slows an Enemy Target, reducing their Movement Speed by 20%/30%/40%/50% for 5.0 seconds, and creates an area effect surrounding himself and Slows all other Enemies within close range by 1.5% of the Witch-king’s maximum health while “Despair” is active.  Note that relics activated upon Ability use are not triggered by “Despair.” This ability gains no benefits from increased Ability Power.

Y//: Death

The Witch-king wields his dark power to reduce healing on Enemy units within close range by 35% while Death is active, and deals Enemy Guardians 50/72/94/116 Ability Damage and 16/22/28/34 Ability Damage per second for 10.0 seconds.  If an Enemy Guardian is slain while under the effect of “Death,” the Witch-king summons a wraith that persists for 20.0 seconds.  Note that relics activated upon Ability use are not triggered by “Death.” This ability gains a large benefit from increased Ability Power.

Passive: Overwhelming Terror

The Witch-king gathers darkness before him in preparation for a decisive blow, gaining a mark for each Ability use.  Once he has gained 4 marks, the next Ability used causes Fear to enemies within close range, forcing them to briefly run away uncontrollably, with a small increase to the time based upon the Witch-king’s maximum Health.

Wulfrun

A/X: Arcane Arts

Extending the power of the Shadow, Wulfrun places Shields around himself and Allied Guardians with close range, which absorbs up to 40/80/150/260 Damage and persists for 6.0 seconds.  Additionally, Controlling Effects are removed from Allies, and if the Ability is used while the “Dark Forces” Ability is active, Allies receive 15%/25%/35%/45% reduction to new Controlling Effects while “Arcane Arts” is active.  This ability gains a moderate benefit from increased Ability Power.

X/[]: Defensive Chaos

Wulfrun curses his Enemies and blesses Allies in the same breath, Healing Allies within close range for 20/35/55/80 Health.  If the “Dark Forces” Ability is active, the Cooldown time for “Defensive Chaos” is reset immediately.  This ability gains a moderate benefit from increased Ability Power.

B/O: Wretched Vapors

Wulfrun brings the very vapors from Mordor to the battlefield, creating a foul wind that swirls upon the battlefield for 3.0 seconds, Knocking away Enemies that enter the Vortex and inflicting 30/60/95/135 Ability Damage.  With the “Dark Forces” Ability active, Ability Damage inflicted by the wind increases by 8%/12%/16%/20% per “Dark Forces” Ability Level.  This ability gains a moderate benefit from increased Ability Power.

Y//: Dark Forces

Wulfrun extends his dark will to encompass his Allies within medium range for 6.0 seconds, reducing their Ability Cooldowns by 3%/4%/5%/6% for each second that they remain at his side.  Additionally, Wulfrun’s other Abilities gain significant enchantments if used while “Dark Forces” is active.  This ability gains no benefits from increased Ability Power.

Passive: Cohort of the Shadow

Wulfrun gains fortitude in the company of his Allies, regaining 2% Health whenever a nearby Ally uses and Ability.

Éowyn

A/X: Shieldmaiden

Embodying the heroic purpose of the Horse Lord of Rohan, Éowyn shields herself and her Allies within close range, enabling all the Shields to absorb up to 75/135/195/255 Damage for 4.0 seconds.  This ability gains a moderate benefit from increased Ability Power.

X/[]: Great Renown

Selflessness sacrificing herself to protect her Allies, Éowyn is able to restore 7%/8%/9%/10% Health per second to Allied Guardians within close range, but at the cost of losing 3/4/5/6 Health per second herself for each Ally healed.  Additionally, while the “Great Renown” Ability is active, any healing applied to Éowyn is reduced by 25%.  Note that relics activated upon Ability use are not triggered by “Great Renown.”  This ability gains a moderate benefit from increased Ability Power.

B/O: Know My Fury

By underestimating the battle hardiness of Éowyn, Enemies that come close range during the 1.8/2.2/2.6/3.0 seconds duration of “Know My Fury” are taken aback and Rooted for 1.0 seconds, preventing them moving.  This ability gains no benefits from increased Ability Power.

Y//: I Am No Man

Éowyn reveals her full might, striking an Enemy for 76/96/116/136 Ability Damage, with an additional 22/28/34/40 for each current “Lady of Rohan” Ability bonus, and Stunning them for 1.0 seconds, preventing the afflicted Enemies from taking any action during that time.  Additionally, nearby adversaries are sent running helplessly by casing Fear to all Enemies within medium range.  This ability gains a moderate benefit from increased Ability Power.

Passive: Lady of Rohan

Finding courage in the face of her Enemies, Éowyn recovers Health when damaged by Enemy Basic or Ability Attacks, increasing her Health regeneration by a small amount.  Up to 7 Health regeneration bonuses can be acquired.  Éowyn’s Heath regeneration is returned to normal if she reaches full Health or is defeated.  When Éowyn uses the “I Am No Man” Ability, each current regeneration bonus is converted to Ability Damage and applies it to afflicted enemies.

Galadriel

A/X: Golden Gaze

Galadriel focuses the wisdom of the Elder upon her Enemies, causing those affected within close range to receive 18/28/38/48 Ability Damage per second for 4 seconds.  They are also affected by Fear for 0.8/1.2/1.6/2.0 seconds, blindly running away while the effect persists.  This ability gains a moderate benefit from increased Ability Power.

X/[]: Power of Nenya

Galadriel calls upon the power of the ring Nenya to create a powerful whirlpool, pulling Enemies within medium range to her and briefly Stunning them, impeding the target from taking any action for 1.0/1.2/1.4/1.6 seconds.  Their Movement Speed is also Slowed by 34%/37%/40%/45% for 1.5 seconds.  This ability gains no benefits from increased Ability Power.

B/O: Lothlórien Grove

Galadriel summons a grove from Lothlórien about herself.  The grove persist for 8.0 seconds, causing 8/14/20/26 Ability Damage to Enemy Guardians caught within the grove, while Healing Allies for 12.0/18.0/24.0/30.0 Health.  It also causes all Allies and Enemies within the grove to gain Stealth while within the shelter of the grove, keeping them from the eyes of the Enemy until it wears off or they attack.  This ability gains a moderate benefit from increased Ability Power.

Y//: Evening Star

Holding aloft her Phial, Galadriel gives of herself, sacrificing 30%/35%/40%/45% of her current Health to restore the Health of each Allied Guardian by the same amount.  This ability gains a small benefit from increased Ability Power.

Passive: Lady Of The Wood

Attaining fortitude with the flow of battle, Galadriel adds 5 Health to her Max Health, as well recovering 5 additional Health with every ability use.
