Dead Space 2 is hitting shelves in just three weeks, and just in case you haven’t played the demo yet (you should), you can check out its introductory story-so-far video here. The video simultaneously informs potential players who missed the first game and reveals a few new tidbits of information for veteran players looking forward to their next battle with the necromorphs.
It even shows a glimpse of what’s probably the beginning level of Dead Space 2, with Isaac waking up in a hospital three years after the events of the first game. He’s disoriented and unstable, as “the marker changes all.” Just watch it already.

Here’s a question: Who’s narrating? The voice’s use of personal pronouns and confession of past association with Unitology, the game’s fictional version of Scientology, suggests he may in fact be more than a mere narrator. It’s well known that Dead Space 2 is going to be even more narrative-heavy than the last game in the series, as formerly silent protagonist Isaac Clark has even been given a voice. This trailer may have also just given us our first glimpse of a brand new character, yet to be formally introduced.
While some sites are circulating this as a “new trailer,” it’s actually just the introduction that plays when the demo starts up. Still, it’s well worth a look. Go play the demo if you haven’t already, and look forward to the game’s release on January 25.
