The United States Supreme Court has ruled that the Constitution guarantees the right to same-sex marriage. The majority opinion was decided by Justice Anthony M. Kennedy who joined four other justices in the 5 to 4 decision.
The justices that were in dissent revealed that in their opinion the Constitution had nothing to say on the subject. Those justices were: Chief Justice John G. Roberts Jr., Justice Antonin Scalia and Clarence Thomas.
In the video game world there are a ton of gay, lesbian and trans characters. They can be found in all types of games, from AAA titles to some of the lesser known games; Persona 4, NIER, Fable and more. Well thanks to the Supreme Court's ruling, these characters can finally get married:
Kung Jin
From: Mortal Kombat X
A conversation between Kung Jin and Raiden occurs in Mortal Kombat X where Raiden is comforting Kung Jin because of his apprehension on the Shaolin accepting him.
Raiden encourages him by saying, "They care only about what is in your heart. Not whom your heart desires." Also when beginning a fight with the DLC charecter Tanya he says "You face the shaolin," Tanya replies, "Quite a handsome one." Kung Jin's responds with "Barking up the wrong tree sister."
Makoto
From: Enchanted Arms
Openly gay throughout the game. He is in love with Toya throughout the game (althout Toya does not seem to reciprocate his feelings).
Ellie
From: The Last of Us
When she's old enough, of course.
"We’ve already told this platonic love story between Joel and Ellie and we’ve told the story of the friendship of these two girls in the comic book… It felt like we wanted another dimension to it and since we already had these discussions of who Ellie is it seemed pretty natural to say, or at least ask the question, “What if these two girls were more than friends? What if they were attracted to each other? What if there was more to it?
Because we didn’t explore it [Ellie’s sexuality] one way or another in the main game, it was up for grabs in this story.” – Neil Druckmann, Creative Director at Naughty Dog
Samantha and Lonnie
From: Gone Home
Gone Home focuses on the story of Kaitlin Greenbriar returning home, only to find no one is there and an ominous note from her sister Samantha. Investigating the home Kaitlin find Samantha's journal, reads through it and discovers a blossoming (and secret) relationship between her sister and Lonnie.
Commander Shepard or any main character you play as in a BioWare game

Bobby Drake A.K.A. Iceman
From: X-Men
