Animal Crossing WiFi News

Nintendo has recently released a new fact sheet for their upcoming WiFi game, Animal Crossing: Wild World. Today’s fact sheet brought with it new details for both the single player mode of the title, as well as the WiFi aspect of the game.

First off, Nintendo is promising fans that their favorite characters from the GameCube iteration of the series will return on the DS. In addition, the company promises to add several new characters to the series. Each of the game’s critters will have their own unique hobbies for your character to assist them with.

Animal Crossing DS is also set to include over 1500 items for your character to buy or find throughout the world. The game will give players the ability to fish, dig up treasure, catch bugs, and the opportunity to form a community with your friends.

As far as wireless play goes, you and up to three of your friends can visit your town. However, these visits do not come without consequences. For instance, a character from your town may move into your friends village and vice versa.

Other events can include “bottle messages” washed up on your shore, and it is said that other players can even alter the appearance of constellations in the night sky.

On the WiFi front, Nintendo confirmed today that this mode of play will function almost exactly as the wireless mode. However, there is a catch.

Due to the nature of the game, it appears that Nintendo is trying to force you to play with people that you know. While this news may seem disappointing to some, Nintendo has made it easy and accessible to add people to your friends list.

This can be accomplished two ways. In wireless mode, whenever you visit someone else’s village you are given the opportunity to add them to your friends list. The same goes for when people travel to your town.

The other option available makes use of something called “friend codes.” To receive your code, all that is required is that you register your game with Nintendo. After doing this, you may trade codes with anyone in the world via, phone, email, and even Internet message boards.
