Electroplankton Launches

Nintendo of America this morning announced the launch of Electroplankton. The game, a Nintendo DS exclusive, allows users to score music by using the touch screen or speaking into the microphone of the Nintendo DS. Sounds can then be sampled, manipulated, changed, and rearranged to create new beats and harmonies.

According to Nintendo, Electroplankton exemplifies a commitment to “expand the frontier of innovation in the videogame universe.” The game, which takes full advantage of the Nintendo DS, features 10 music-making modes and was developed by renowned Japanese electronic artist Toshio Iwai. Iwai’s artistry adds beauty and whimsy to Electroplankton, making it delightful on both the eyes and the ears.

“Electroplankton is a great way to kick off what promises to be an exciting year for Nintendo. It’s the kind of casual game that will attract a broad audience and help Nintendo DS continue to expand its lead as the most popular new hand-held system,” said Reggie Fils-Aime, Nintendo of America’s Executive Vice President of Sales & Marketing.

Electroplankton, however, won’t be available in your local store. The game is only available at major online retailers (such as Amazon.com, BestBuy.com, and EB Games), Nintendo.com, and the Nintendo World Store in New York City.

In addition, the game’s official website is interesting to say the least. The game is rated E for Everyone.family guy
