Metroid Hunters: New Details

The interactive entertainment magazine, GamePro has recently revealed new details pertaining to Metroid Prime Hunters. The Nintendo DS first-person shooter featuring the popular character Samus Aran was originally slated to release some time ago, however Nintendo had previously delayed the anticipated title in an effort to provide online functionality via the Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection.

With a definite release date of March 20th, 2006, Hunters is heavily desired for the intense multiplayer action which it is set to offer. Gamers who purchased a Nintendo DS in its early months got a taste of the game’s Deathmatch mode, but the bundled demo offered little compared to what the final version is prepared to provide.

According to GamePro, Nintendo has packed the action title with 25 competitive multiplayer areas for use in the game’s Deathmatch mode. At the present time, it has yet to be disclosed if all of these available maps will be available to play over the Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection, however it is expected that the majority of the 25 will be.

Additionally, Metroid Prime Hunters is set to follow the footsteps of its predecessors in the series and offer an intense single player experience. Taking place in the Metroid Prime universe, the game includes six additional bounty hunters, each equipped with their own set of weapons, properties, and special maneuvers. The six hunters will also have their own, unique morphing abilities to further differentiate them. Nintendo has high hopes for these new characters, as the company desires to develop “spin-off” games based around them if they are indeed popular.

The game’s single player mode will include a multitude of levels spanning across five different game worlds. Throughout the title, if one of the additional hunters acquires an artifact it is the players role to immediately hunt them down, even if it involves them leaving their current world.

The Nintendo DS first person shooter allows users to control all of their characters actions via the touch screen of the portable. Players have the option of controlling their character’s aiming with the system’s stylus or thumbstrap while movement is handled via the directional pad. Releasing on March 20th, 2006 Metroid Prime Hunters is expected to retail at an MSRP of $34.99. Family Guy
