Scratch! Viewtiful Joe New Details

Craving Viewtiful Joe DS details? The latest Famitsu magazine gives us an insight into this upcoming DS titles from Capcom, which is now tentatively titled Scratch! Viewtiful Joe.

In Joe’s latest adventure — now with dual-screen, touch interactive additions — we see Joe going after a stolen film that an evil nemesis named Madou has taken. This latest adventure takes place in a large theme park and Captain Blue needs you to get that film back for him.

You won’t be alone, however, as Joe’s younger sister, Jasmine, will be a new character that appears in the game. Jasmine wishes to someday be an actress, and whether she will play a vital role to the gameplay is yet to be determined.

Scratch! Viewtiful Joe will retain the 2D graphics and side-scrolling gameplay from the console versions, and the touch-screen interaction will be implemented, but not extensively. The only use for the touch screen will be for VFX moves such as the “split VFX” which requires you to draw a horizontal line across the screen with your finger to cut items — such as a billboard — in half, allowing Joe to drop these on enemies below. Such unique VFX powers are a great addition to the series, and these specific ones are exclusive to the DS version of the game.

Keep it with DSA for a Scratch! Viewtiful Joe preview as soon as more information becomes available.
