Mr. Driller is back and this time to Nintendo’s brand new DS system. Mr. Driller: Drill Spirits still retains the same puzzle based game play that has made the series so famous. Namco was not content just to just simple port it to the DS. They felt the need to make some drastic changes that will surely expand the play mechanic to a entire new height.
If you are not familiar with Mr. Driller, here is the general premise. You drill through a maze of blocks, while attempting to stack the same colored blocks to start a chain reaction. Sounds a little like a puzzler huh? Hold on–there is more. You also have to be careful not to let these blocks collapse on our hero, while collecting items, and dodging enemies.
What separates Drill Spirits from previous incarnations is the use of the many features of the DS. The dual screen for starters allows the player to see more of the actual play field. Not to be out done, the touch screen allows for precise pinpoint movement commands. You can even battle up to four other players using the wireless connection.
Mr. Driller: Drill Spirits is shaping up to be a great game, and a must for puzzle fans. Due to launch with the Nintendo DS in late November, it is one to watch. Look for more info soon on this and other DS titles
