Worms DS Official

shortcutReady the ninja rope, and “dust off the Holy Hand Grenade” because the hit Worms series is set to take on both the Nintendo DS and Sony’s PSP. THQ announced an aggreement with the series developer, Team 17 in which the company will publish both titles.

“The Worms brand is a huge global phenomenon shipping over 9 million units to date,” said Peter Dille, Senior Vice President, Worldwide Marketing, THQ. “The pick-up-and-play gameplay is an ideal formula for the PSP system and Nintendo DS formats and will enable THQ to extend our leadership position in the handheld sector.”

Worms is set to bring back the classic gameplay of the originals along with the game’s characteristic humor. Developer, Team 17, has confirmed that they are developing new versions of the classic title for both portables. However, it is unkown as to how the games will differ amongst themselves.

The developer hopes to provide a truly unique single player experience, along with an exciting multplayer mode. It has yet to be confirmed if either of the two titles will fully utilize the WiFi features of the portables, but wireless multiplayer is official.
