IGN is on a roll this week with retracted stories. Yesterday, it published a story about Pandemic developing a new Batman title and then unexpectedly pulled the story without explanation. Today, we learn it also ran a story claiming that Electronic Arts is bringing Skate to Wii and DS, only to suddenly remove that story from its site, too.
Worry not if you want to read what IGN had to say regarding Wii and DS versions of the Tony Hawk-esque Skate, which debuted on Xbox 360 and PS3 last fall. We have the whole thing for you below.
IGN has learned that Electronic Arts will be producing versions of Skate, its Tony Hawk-competing skateboarding title, for both the Nintendo DS and Wii systems. The title will be known as Skate It, implying that these versions will be a spin-off and not a port of last year’s game. No other details on the two versions have been revealed.
Skate, produced by development studio Black Box, was released on the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 in late 2007 to critical acclaim. The game brought skateboarding videogame back to its basics with its unique skill-based, dual analog-stick control. Since the Wii and DS lack similar control functions as the PS3 and 360, we can expect controls that are tailored for the Nintendo system’s strengths: accelerometer motion for the Wii and touch-screen for the DS.
