It’s Open Season For Ubisoft

Ubisoft has recently reached an agreement with Sony Pictures Animation by which the video game publisher will publish games based off the company’s forthcoming animated feature-length film called Open Season.

The film, set for a September 29th release follows a group of rowdy forrest animals as they interact with hunters and other threats to their habitat. To compliment the release of the film, Ubisoft has announced that the upcoming multiplatform games will release two week’s prior to the film’s debut.

Currently in development for all platforms by Ubisoft’s acclaimed Montreal studio, Open Season will allow gamer’s to relive the humor and adventure of the film regardless of platform.

“We have been working hand-in-hand with Ubisoft’s team to create a game that captures all the fun of Open Season,” said Mark Caplan, executive director, interactive at Sony Pictures Consumer Products. “Sony Pictures’ leadership in digital entertainment coupled with Ubisoft’s award-winning development team is a great partnership that brings innovation to both the film and video game businesses.”

The game’s developers aim to create a fun and immersive atmosphere for their project that conveys the same level of comedy and family fun presented by Sony Picture’s hollywood film.

During the game, players control both Boog, voiced by Martin Lawrence in the film, and Elliot, with Ashton Kutcher’s voice from the film as they interact with the rest of the cast in an effort to drive away the hunters.

“Ubisoft is thrilled to be collaborating with the movie production team of Open Season to bring the humorous adventures of Boog and Elliot to the interactive world,” said Tony Key, vice president of marketing at Ubisoft. “Ubisoft is committed to making the best movie-based video games in the industry. We do this by partnering closely with our licensing partners and movie makers to create an experience that remains true to the spirit of the film but expands it far beyond the theater.”
