Well you’re certainly getting your engines warmed up. These Miami bus stop ads for the game (kind of like the ones in Chicago)? You wrote a nice little letter to the Miami Mayor detailing all the reasons why they are a threat to our harmonious American society:
“I was shocked today to see a six-foot-high advertisement for Grand Theft Auto IV, a hyperviolent video game…on the side of a Metro Miami-Dade bus stop located… near Children’s Hospital. In fact, the advertisement was adjacent to a kids’ park.”
Never mind that the ad (pictured to la right) is no more than a picture of an admittedly gruff-looking individual, but only a picture nonetheless. But oh! It suggests so much as you say:
“The Grand Theft Auto games have been obsessively played by a number of teens who have then copycatted the outrageous, sociopathic violence in the games and killed innocent people.”
You know, today I saw a picture of Arnold Schwarzenegger online. He was shaking hands with some union leaders in LA. But then suddenly I remembered that scene in Commando where he rips a dude in half, and I immediately wanted to go kill people. For shame that Arnold should go around showing a visage that has been associated with such acts of mass violence!
PS: I think it’s funny how Thompson makes such a big deal about the fact that the ad is “six-foot-high”. If it were three and a half would you be making such a big fuss, Jack?
