Last minute gift ideas for the Xbox gamer

Ah, nothing like waiting until last minute to do your holiday shopping. Earlier today, I covered some last minute gift ideas for someone who owns a PlayStation device. But what if your friend or loved one supports the big green machine — Xbox? Don’t worry, there’s still plenty gift ideas that’ll bring a smile to their face.

Whether it's something simple like a gift card that enables them to pick and choose what they want, or perhaps give them the gift of the ultimate Halo experience with the Master Chief Collection, you have a wide range of goodies to pick from.

Xbox Gift Card

Found at most major retailers (GameStop, Target, Best Buy, Amazon), an Xbox Gift Card is used to buy games, music, movies and TV shows digitally through the Xbox Store. Aside from being incredibly easy to find at just about any store, it also lets them choose their most desired gift. So if you know nothing about games, hand them this card and let them make the choice. Xbox Gift Cards can be purchased in values ranging from $10 to $100.

Xbox LIVE Gold Membership Card

Like Sony’s PS Plus Subscription Card, the Xbox LIVE Gold card grants membership to Microsoft’s massive social entertainment network. Xbox LIVE Gold offers both Xbox One and Xbox 360 owners free games every month through the Games with Gold program, weekly discounts through Deals with Gold, and the ability to access online multiplayer in games. The Xbox LIVE Gold Membership Card comes in 3-Month ($24.99) or 12-Month ($59.99) subscriptions.

Most of these games are priced at $59.99, but you may be able to catch a discount at some retailers.

Gaming Headset

The headsets that come with the Xbox One and Xbox 360 are functional, but they sure as heck aren’t comfortable. If you don’t mind splurging a bit this holiday season, you might want to get one of the fancier Turtle Beach gaming headsets.

Most of these headsets can be found in retail stores like Best Buy, but prices below are from Amazon and may be subject to change

Xbox One

  • Turtle Beach Ear Force XO Seven Premium ($129.99)
  • Turtle Beach Ear Force XO Four High Performance ($79.99)

Xbox 360

  • Turtle Beach Ear Force X42 Wireless Gaming Headset ($88.07)
  • Ear Force X12 Gaming Headset ($49.99)

Games!

Everybody knows gamers love games. Just in case you don’t know the popular ones, here they are:

  • Grand Theft Auto V (Xbox One or Xbox 360)
  • Halo: The Master Chief Collection (Xbox One)
  • Sunset Overdrive (Xbox One)
  • Minecraft (Xbox One or Xbox 360)
  • Titanfall (Xbox One or Xbox 360)
  • Middle Earth: Shadow of Mordor (Xbox One or Xbox 360)
  • Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare (Xbox One or Xbox 360)
  • Far Cry 4 (Xbox One or Xbox 360)
  • Dragon Age: Inquisition (Xbox One or Xbox 360)
  • Disney Fantasia: Music Evolved (Xbox One)
  • Forza Horizon 2 (Xbox One or Xbox 360)
