Latest Rock Band PS3 Patch Finally Lets You Use Your Guitar Hero Axes

PS3 owners of Rock Band have had it a little tougher than their Xbox 360 counterparts. In addition to getting DLC a few days later and having to wait out Rock Band 2’s limited-time exclusive window on Microsoft’s console, they haven’t been able to use their Guitar Hero guitar controllers on EA’s music and rhythm game, a feature present on Xbox 360 from day one. That is, until a few days ago, thanks to a hidden fix that accompanied a patch to correct PAX Pack DLC compatibility issues.

This confirmation comes from Matt, an OT reader, who sent me the following note.

Well, last night, they put out an update for Rock Band, I guess, and it fixed the songs. But even better, my GH3 guitar now works! I’m pretty stoked.. just finished playing through a song with my housemate on two guitars for the first time ever on my PS3.

Has anyone else noticed that their PS3 GH controllers now work on Rock Band?

No word yet as to whether or not the new functionality will carry over to Rock Band 2, which is slated to release on PlayStation 3 by the end of the year. For now, PS3 owners, feel free to dust off that old Les Paul controller sitting in the corner.
