Leaked Info Spawns Rock Band Revelations

News on Harmonix’s upcoming Rock Band has been leaked onto the web, revealing four-player online play for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 and much more.

The latest issue of Game Informer magazine (seen on the NeoGAF forums) shows off the game’s four distinctive game campaigns ranging from guitar, drum, bass and vocal. In addition, a mode is being specially designed to incorporate all components into one huge co-op play through. The game will be fully accessible both online and off, with customizable difficulty settings available.

The title will offer a “community system” in order to team up musicians from around the planet. Guitar and bass sections will come with 10 frets total, 5 designed for the regular sections of the game and 5 more for the newly designed solo option. The whammy bar and tilt features are returning to “activate rock band’s version of star power.”

Singing sections will offer a bit more depth in comparison. A phoneme detector will pick up on individual vowels and constants. As players build up enough highly judged phrases they’ll be able to sing “free-form.” The microphone will double as a tambourine as a way to keep vocalists involved during long guitar solos. As for the drums, “You use actual sticks and hit one of four colored pads in front of you, in addition to a kick pedal attached to the drumming unit. Drummers will also have the ability to do fills etc. in their own little free-form section.”

Songs mentioned in the article include:

• Weezer – Say It Ain’t So – Original Master Track
