If there are two things kids love, they’re candy and jumping on the couch even when you specifically tell them not to. If we expanded to two more things kids love, I’d put Minecraft and LEGO sets in there. While there are already some really impressive LEGO Minecraft sets available, LEGO and Mojang have partnered for even more playsets.
Available August 1, 2015 at toy retailers, there are four new playsets on the way, each with the ability to rebuild into variants.
The first set is The Dungeon (#21119 RRP £19.99). With an iron pickaxe, you’ll defeat zombies, mine gold ore, use torches, and get to the chest containing wheat and redstone. It’s a mostly grey playset with some beiges and lava thrown in, containing three minifigures — Steve and two zombies.
The second set — and one that is the most different of the currently available LEGO Minecraft playsets — is The Snow Hideout (#21120 RRP £39.99). The Snow Hideout comes with a Steve minifigure, a Creeper and a Snow Golem, plus accessories. It’s the perfect playset for when you’re out on an icy mining expedition and the sun is about to set. You know hostile mobs will be there soon. So you set down your pickaxe and coal, use your shovel and crafting tables, and set to build a makeshift hideout to survive the night. Using snow blocks and water from the lake to make ice-block windows, you’re ready for nightfall and the action it brings!
Next up is The Desert Outpost (#21121 RRP £59.99). A set that includes Steve, Alex, a wolf, two skeletons, assorted weapons and accessories, The Desert Outpost has a house and a lookout tower. There’s a protective wall and torches burning around the fortress. Tame the wolf and have it stand guard while you craft a bed, table, door, ladder and boat. Defend against skeletons with your TNT launcher, and sail in your boat to search for crops.
Finally, we have The Nether Fortress (#21122 RRP £69.99). It’s time to light the obsidian portal and cross over to The Nether. The Nether Fortress is an intimidating structure protected by Blaze mobs. With a diamond pickaxe, mine glowstone to light your way, but be careful of all of the lava. With your diamond sword, take on the Zombie Pigman, the red-eyed, fire-shooting Ghast, and get the chest filled with diamonds and a gold sword. The Nether Fortress comes with three minifigures — Steve, Alex, and a Zombie Pigman — a Blaze, a Ghast, and multiple weapons and accessories.
These products launch today, August 1, 2015. Following the launch and running in September, you can enter the PlanetMinecraft.com LEGO Minecraft competition. For more information on the contest, and how to enter and win, click HERE.
