Lemmings Preview

Lemmings, to start this as a grade school report, are defined by the dictionary as, “Any of various small, thickset rodents, especially of the genus Lemmus, inhabiting northern regions and known for periodic mass migrations that sometimes end in drowning.” However, a video game dictionary might have a slight variation, something along the lines of “Lemmings, a beloved puzzle game, second only to Tetris, that sometimes ends with mass frustration.”

Follow The Lemming In Front Of You
Lemmings have been a gaming staple for as long as people can remember. Always popping up on a system here, a handheld there and now Lemmings is finally on the PSP. The basic gamplay strategy is that a bunch of Lemmings are in a level with many dangers. It’s up to the player to assign the Lemmings tasks to get out of the level. Be it stopping traffic or making an incline, each task is important to reaching the goal.

What Do Worms and Lemmings Have In Common?
Team 17 is developing Lemmings for the PSP, they are also the development team behind the cult classic Worms series. The graphics are cartoony and vibrant, like gamers have come to expect from Lemmings. In addition to some graphical upgrades, there will be 150 plus levels for Lemmings rights activists to save the little green haired guys. Not enough levels? Team 17 is going to include a level editor that will be able to upload completed levels to an online server for download. This level distribution system seems like Mega Man: Powered Up as it uses the same principles. This will be a great tool for Lemmings fans to “do their worst” at getting other fans to pull their hair out in frustration.

Lemmings is going to be released this spring. In the meantime, please view the trailer that we have provided.
