Recently, we learned that the popular trilogy of Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney games (known as Gyakuten Saiban in Japan) would soon be headed to WiiWare. Beginning in January, they will be released every other month in the first half of 2010, with the bonus fifth chapter from the DS version of the first game being made available in May.
In Japan, however, they get it a bit earlier on December 15th, leading to this trailer to promote the game and show off the added Wii functions:
My favorite remark on the Penny Arcade forums about this trailer was that the father looks like the series’ recurring first-case prosecutor, Winston Payne.
I’m glad these games are going to be made available in an easy-to-acquire format, though I probably won’t be in any rush to acquire them personally (owning the originals and all). But I do wonder how some of the first game’s Case 5 tricks will be employed on the Wii.
I also wonder, should these be successful, if they’ll consider bringing further installments to WiiWare.
