The above image is legitimate. Metal Gear Solid RISING‘s game page has been updated on Xbox.com. The update brings new, delicious boxart of Raiden being a badass.
But then some poster on Neogaf goes and adds some further speculation to the laundry list of E3 tasks. According to him, a journalist has seen the newest Metal Gear running on the 360. He says it looks nice (great).
But he also indicates that the game will be heading to E3 with a new trailer, but it won’t offer anything playable.
He does so with the silliest version of proof if ever there was one…
Here’s the post from NeoGAF in its entirety:
Hey guys, I just listened to this week’s gameblog.fr podcast, and Julien confirmed he ALREADY saw MGS Rising running when he visited Kojima Productions in April. He couldn’t say anything of course (NDA…) but he thinks the game won’t be playable at E3, but there will be a trailer. He then added that what he could say is that the game looked “really nice, really really nice” (or something like that ^^), and that you shouldn’t ask him whether he brought with him footage of the game (meaning that YES he must have footage of the game, ready to be uploaded for E3 I guess).
If some of you don’t trust the source, you should know that they are the only journalists I know of that were allowed to visit inside Kojima Productions (here’s a picture of their meeting in Tokyo, you can guess Kojima doesn’t do this for every journalist: http://download.gameblog.fr/images/blogs/10/6962.jpg)
And here’s the image he links to.
PROOF!
A new trailer for Metal Gear Solid RISING seems obvious. Beyond the original teaser that launched last summer, word concerning the next from Kojima has been extremely scarce. While not a 360 exclusive, the big news from Microsoft’s show last year was that Metal Gear Solid RISING would be on the 360 as well. It would be weird if the game didn’t show up at this year’s conference during at least one of the pressers.
Concerning the demo, well, anything is possible. Tons of games hit the show floor without playable action. Typically, those games are showed off by two or three members of the development team to rotating, small groups of press. That doesn’t mean, however, that they won’t come out anytime soon.
Last year, I saw Dragon Age: Origins as a non-playable demo, it released a few months after the fact. Playable or not, if the game shows up at E3 in any working form then we know its release is impending.
Metal Gear Solid RISING‘s boxart is great. This NeoGAF post, and its glorious proof shot, made us chuckle. Enjoy.
