Russian Developer 4A Games has announced its developing a new game for both the PlayStation 3 and the PC titled Metro 2033: The Last Refuge. The game is inspired by the book Metro 2033 by Dmitriy Glukhovskiy and will be set in a post-apocalyptic Moscow.
The story itself has an interesting premise: Thousands of human survivors have taken refuge in the makeshift bomb shelters of the Moscow Subway system. Heavy radiation has killed off much of the world and strange new creatures roam the earth.
The game is being described as a first-person shooter with RPG elements included. While gamers won’t actually have to wait until 2033 to play the game, they’d better be prepared for a long wait, as the game is not expected for release until late 2008. 4A Games claims that interacting with various political factions will play a major part in the game. The developer plans on including a number of different combat styles as well.
